On Whom Do You Rely?

In good times and in bad, in indifferent times and in sad, on whom do you rely? When things are looking up but the pressure is setting in, on whom do you rely? The opportunity arises to make a choice to do what is right or wrong, on whom do you rely? Thoughts are racing and what you want is up for grabs on whom do you rely? Choosing your surroundings, where you live and who you allow into your life on whom do you rely? Life choices to make on the daily, on whom do you rely? 

I can’t speak for everyone but as for me and my house (Party of 1) I will serve the Lord! God is in the details, in my choices, in my decisions and even when it comes to involving others in my life God has a say always. It’s not because I am a Bible thumper or I am in church morning, noon and night. It’s because I have a personal relationship with God and I chose Him just as He has chosen me although, it hasn’t always been this way. 

I rededicated my life to God over 6 years ago. Before that I was doing what I felt like I wanted and needed to do for me. I put myself first in everything. I wasn’t that considerate of others, I hurt a lot of people’s feelings and in the midst of me pursuing what I wanted I also got hurt. I realized I needed something different, a help, a guide, something other than what I was in. I always had a praying relationship with God but of course that was when I needed something. And even though I wasn’t putting Him as a priority He continued to show up for me.  After He showed me unlike many others that were in my life that He would be there for me no matter what, He would rescue me, He would lead and guide me to the life He has for me, that’s when I went all in! My heart became SOLD OUT for God! And I rely on Him for everything! 

God doesn’t just say what He has done and will do he shows us! Whether we decide to put Him first and rely on Him always is a choice we have to make ourselves. God will never make us choose Him even though He is more than capable of doing that. He wants us to come to Him and rely on Him! He will handle everything! 2 Chronicles Chapters 12 & 13 is a story of 2 kings who rebelled against God. One King humbled himself after the word of God came to Him saying that He had turned away from God. God taught Him a lesson by replacing his gold with bronze but nevertheless still allowed Him to be King and defeat his enemies. But then some years later, more enemies came up against this king as his son now served as King. The new king did not humble himself and rebelled against God. The king and his people served and believed in idols. God allowed this King to be overtaken, his father died and they were defeated by their enemies. The reason why they were defeated is not only because the king rebelled against God but because their enemies called out to God to help them. They relied on God and His help in order to win the war! The king relied on his idols and his men.

So on whom do you rely? Yourself, Idols, Society or other things that cannot and will not rescue you or help you. Or will you rely on God to do all that He has promised?
